Celebrated every year on March 3, World Hearing Day (WHD)  raises awareness  for problems associated with hearing loss and promotes the need for access to ear and hearing care around the world. WHD 2022 focused on the importance of hearing loss prevention through safe listening.

In 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated that about 50% of young people aged 12 to 35 are at risk of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) from using personal audio systems (PAS), over 10 million Canadians. Other common sources include social, entertainment, and sports venues frequented by all ages.

Besides other noise prevention, safer listening is crucial to protecting everyone’s hearing for life.
