A valuable parent resource, put together by speech-language pathologists to share ideas about creating language-rich environments for preschool and school-age children. There is a preschool Talk Box for 0-5 year olds; a school age Talk Box for 5-11 year olds, and a workshop facilitator guide.
Talking is Key DVD Children need to be good communicators to be successful in day to day living. Parents play an extremely important role in helping their children become good communicators. This 12 minute DVD shows examples of children from 3 months to 5 years of age. You can follow the development of speech and language skills throughout these ages. You will also learn everyday tips of how parents help children learn language at each age. Available in English and 11 additional voice overs.
On the Go
These materials, developed by Angela Notari-Syverson, PhD and colleagues, include 14 activities designed to be used outside the home: in the car, while walking, during bus rides, etc. The activities encourage early language and literacy development from birth through preschool. They are appropriate for children with disabilities as well as children who are developing typically. The development of these materials was supported by Grant H324M020084 from the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs.
